Instructions to create a Win32 file for Intune:
Step 1
Navigate to https://github.com/microsoft/Microsoft-Win32-Content-Prep-Tool
- Select the Code button.
- Download the Zip file.
- Once downloaded, extract the files
- You would need to create a folder on the device C:/ drive. Name the folder IntuneWinAppUtil
- Next, copy the extracted files to the created folder “IntuneWinAppUtil”
Step 2
Next, download the Windows Desktop Runtime from https://github.com/dotnet/core/blob/main/release-notes/6.0/6.0.15/6.0.15.md
- Navigate to Windows Desktop Runtime.
- Select x86.
- Create a folder on the C:/ drive, WinDeskRun
- Copy the downloaded Windows Desktop Runtime install file to the created folder “ Windows Desktop Runtime”
Creating the intunewin file:
Create a folder called IntuneApps on your C:/ drive
Open PowerShell and apply the following commands:
- C:\Windows\system32> cd\
- C:\> cd .\IntuneWinAppUtil\
- C:\IntuneWinAppUtil> dir
- C:\IntuneWinAppUtil> .\IntuneWinAppUtil.exe
- Please specify the source folder: C:\WinDeskRun
- Please specify the setup file: windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0.15-win-x86.exe
- Please specify the output folder: C:\IntuneApps
- Do you want to specify catalog folder (Y/N)?N
#Note: Folders and file names are dependent on the naming convention on your device
PowerShell will create the file and will indicate once complete. The file will be available in the designated folder.
The file extension will read “Intunewin”
Once completed, you may now continue with the Configuring Desktop Runtime configuration
